State Policy > Job-Driven Investments

Is your state making job-driven education and training investments?

Most states have a skill gap in the middle: jobs that require education beyond a high school diploma but not a four-year degree. But while most jobs that require postsecondary education and training are middle-skill, most state education and training investments are not. In short, states aren’t putting their money where their jobs are.

What’s the solution? States can increase investments in middle-skill education and training and target these investments to support proven strategies like sector partnerships and career pathways, as well as data and credential measurement efforts that allow policymakers to see what they are getting for their investments.
