State Policy > Postsecondary Education

Community and technical colleges play a major role in delivering skills training. Many tuition assistance programs and other state postsecondary education policies are oriented toward “traditional” college students, despite the fact that nearly three-quarters of all undergraduates— such as part-time students, students enrolled in non-credit vocational education at local community colleges, and adults — are “non-traditional” students. States can adopt policies that make it easier and more affordable for adults to get postsecondary skills training and education.
